What it is

General health in the mental health plan.

Internal Medicine assesses the patient as a whole. In a mental health clinic, it brings the physical component into the treatment plan.

Fatigue, low mood, anxiety or insomnia can have physical causes. Taking multiple medications requires an overall review.

Internal Medicine works closely with Psychiatry.

When to seek care

Especially when there are several illnesses, several medications or symptoms with no identified cause.

  • Fatigue, lack of energy or low mood, to rule out a physical cause.
  • Sleep changes with no identified cause.
  • You have several illnesses and take many medications.
  • Physical changes after starting a medication.
  • General health assessment before starting a treatment.
